    In April of 2015, Google announced that it would use mobile friendly sites as a ranking signal. It labeled sites as “mobile-friendly”. This pushed nearly 85% of all websites to a responsive design.

    In August of 2016, Google decided to drop the “mobile-friendly” label to clean up search results. The Mobile Friendly Algorithm used by Google is not dead and it is still very important for your site to be mobile friendly for a better search ranking.
